ThunderZap 2.0 for Android One brings Mainline update to 3.4.104, Performance improvements and a huge battery life
This update brings updates to the core of the kernel. With update to mainstream 3.4.104 all security patches, performance enhancements and file-system updates which were carried out on Linux kernel have been merged. This is the most highlighted thing here and took a lot of work on my end. Also Google updated sprout kernel source few days ago which brings improved touchscreen performance, the firmware update process in the touchscreen is now converted into a separate thread thus improving the boot time. Also the camera driver received updates which reduces noise in the front camera Finally, NVIDIA released some patches to the codeaurora.org few days ago which improves cpu scheduling, it brings new cleaned up and light-weight methods which reduces the power consumption leading to a good battery life. I have tested these patches thoroughly and I can definitely notice the improvements The changelog goes as:
– Huge update to kernel.org mainline 3.4.104 – Merged Updates from Google’s mediatek repo – Improved touchscreen performance – Improved boot time – Improved front camera quality – Patches by NVIDIA to improve power efficiency – init.d support – Automatic busybox installationFrom this release on-wards I am providing the kernel inside a flashable zip which should ease up the kernel installation in case you don’t have a PC in your vicinity. You can follow up the thread post over here to continue discussion over at xda or post reviews The update can be found on first post of the officially supported XDA Developers thread here.
