Second beta of CyanogenMod 11 for Android One is now available

Well I am quite happy to say this, within a short time things have begun to look pretty great with this port of mine. The hardware of the phone now almost works fully. The biggest hurdle being the dual sim being already solved in the last beta release this release brings more to add to it. I believe that users can pretty much start considering this as a daily driver now. The second beta fixes the dual SIM instabilities when switching the defaults to the second SIM. You can now place calls and messages through the second SIM. Just head over to Settings–>MultiSim and change your preferences as you like. Another thing which is really a cherry on the pie is I have fixed data on SIM1 as well. I have tested both 2G and 3G data over there and it works quite flawlessly. This beta also brings several other improvements such as fixes to the mounting of device specific /oem partition which shall be later used to automatically set the actual model number and manufacturer name in the future releases. Along with that, there is also a fix to the operator name not being displayed in the notification bar. While we can certainly say this is done but it isn’t yet. Data on SIM2 and AGPS is broken as of yet and I am working on that after which Android One users can start boasting about being the first mediatek phone holders for having official CM support. As always here is the technical changelog for the new beta
– Fixed calls and messages through second SIM – Fixed data on SIM1 – both 2G and 3G works – Fixed failure to set subscriptions in settings – Fixed failure of mounting of /oem partition – Cleaned up a lot of un-necessary services in init – Increased kernel log buffer size for full logs – Updated CM source with various stability improvements and feature updates
Users coming from previous CM build can do a simple dirty install whereas the ones coming from stock ROM need to do full clean install. Head over to the xda-developers thread/post to follow up the development
